NIFLA Statement on the Failure of Connecticut House Bill 7070

NIFLA released the following statement following the failure of House Bill 7070 to pass the Connecticut State Senate:

“NIFLA is grateful that the Connecticut State Senate did not pass this unconstitutional legislation. Mothers facing unexpected pregnancies should have a safe haven to review all of their options rather than a place that profits from their choices. Pregnancy center clients regularly express overwhelming gratitude because they receive the love, support, and services they need to make an informed decision. HB 7070 seeks to halt the work of these lifesaving nonprofits for the benefit of the abortion industry.”

“HB 7070’s failure to pass is a win for pregnancy centers and the women of Connecticut. NIFLA will continue to oppose all legislation that seeks to target pro-life pregnancy centers and the professionals who serve them because of their deeply held beliefs. All states should consider the potential costs of such pro-abortion policies rather than force taxpayers to pay thousands or even millions of dollars to defend unconstitutional bills on behalf of the abortion industry. Instead of doing the bidding of Planned Parenthood and organizations like it, legislators should work to support women and local nonprofits that provide them with options and resources.”
