With Hurricane Florence making landfall this morning, NIFLA president and founder Thomas Glessner, J.D., has issued the following statement:

“In view of the recent rise in natural disasters across the nation, NIFLA leadership has decided to launch the NIFLA Pregnancy Center Disaster Response program.

This program will incorporate a crisis communications framework designed to support member centers during and after natural disasters. To that end, NIFLA has launched a Facebook page and Twitter channel dedicated exclusively to pro-life crisis communications and disaster response.

The primary goals of these dedicated social media channels are:

1. Establish a reliable crisis communications system for pregnancy centers to use in order to communicate important updates during and after disasters.

2. Support coordination of member centers (when possible) as a rendezvous point for disaster relief supplies, volunteers and community disaster relief efforts.

We believe the NIFLA Pregnancy Center Disaster Response program will benefit pro-life pregnancy centers and communities nationwide. Care Net, a network of 1,100 affiliated pregnancy centers, will participate in the program by encouraging its affiliates to utilize the system and monitoring the needs of its centers during natural disasters.

In addition to assisting centers in the path of Hurricane Florence, this system will support the ongoing recovery efforts of member centers in Hawaii, California and other areas recently affected by natural disasters. We will continue to leverage this crisis communications framework to support member pregnancy centers impacted by natural disasters in the months and years ahead.

I encourage every pro-life pregnancy center to like and follow NIFLA’s Pregnancy Center Disaster Response Facebook page and Twitter channel in order to stay updated on the impact of Hurricane Florence, as well as recovery efforts around other natural disasters involving your sister centers.

Those wishing to support pregnancy center disaster recovery efforts through donations, volunteer work or prayer should stay tuned to NIFLA‘s disaster response channels for more information. You can also email questions about NIFLA‘s pro-life disaster response program to [email protected].

Thank you for your continued prayers and support, and may God bless and protect America’s pro-life pregnancy centers.”
