Today the National Institute of Family and Life Advocates endorses the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the United States Supreme Court. NIFLA President Thomas Glessner issued the following statement:

“The Supreme Court of the United States plays an essential role in the American constitutional system of checks and balances. As a branch of our government, it exists to preserve and defend the inalienable rights of our citizens, as enshrined in our Constitution — including the right to life and religious freedom. Lifetime appointments to the Supreme Court are serious matters which have lasting impacts on our nation’s future and our constitutional freedoms. Accordingly, the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court is a matter of extreme importance.

“NIFLA urges the swift confirmation of Judge Barrett to serve as an Associate Justice on the Supreme Court of the United States. Barrett is eminently qualified to serve on the High Court. The United States Senate Judiciary Committee should conduct a swift and nonpartisan hearing, free of character assassination, that confirms her nomination.”
